Artist: Jacqueline Poncelet
Location: Ipswich, Suffolk
In a highly visible location in the heart of 'Ipswich Village', Ipswich Crown Court's distinctive frontage is dominated by a glazed facade which floods the impressive two storey public court hall with light.
Jacqueline Poncelet was commissioned to create a work for this glazed facade. Hanging large perforated coloured rubber panels over the glass, Poncelet's work recalls stained glass windows. The intricate patterns allude to the order and structure of the law and add visual interest to the austere white interior by casting soft shadows across the space.
The work was commissioned by John Mowlem & Company and developed by Commissions East.
