Making Visible the Invisible

Artist: Patricia MacKinnon-Day
Location: Arbury Park, Cambridge

Arbury Park is a major mixed-use development of over 900 new homes on the northern fringe of Cambridge. The lead developers, Gallagher Estates, and the local authority, South Cambridgeshire District Council, want it to be an attractive and distinctive settlement with well designed architecture, infrastructure and open spaces.

Patricia MacKinnon-Day was appointed as lead artist to participate in the master-planning process. Through public engagement, research and a lateral approach to planning issues, MacKinnon-Day has produced a public art strategy for the site, ‘Making Visible the Invisible’, idnetifying ways of integrating the new settlement with surrounding communities whilst linking it to the historic City of Cambridge.

As part of the public art for Arbury Park, artists Lubna Chowdary, Richard Heeps and Kirsten Lavers have been commissioned to undertake projects. For more information follow the links on the right.

'Making Visible the Invisible' was developed by Commissions East, Gallagher Estates, Shape Cambridge and South Cambridgeshire District Council with additional funding from Arts & Business New Partners and PROJECT - a national funding scheme supported by Arts & Business and the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) and administered by Public Art South West.
