Artist: Taslim Martin
Location: Cambourne, Cambridgeshire
In 2004 Taslim Martin was commissioned to produce a Work for an area of new landscaping within Cambourne Business Park. Cambourne is the largest new settlement in the South Cambridgeshire district, developed on a green field site nine miles west of Cambridge and designed on the principles of sustainable living and working.
The artist worked in close consultation with Aukett Europe, the architects and landscape designers for the scheme, as well as engaging with the business park community and local residents to create this permanent Work. 'Icosahedral' is a 10ft spherical structure made form marine grade stainless steel that provides a striking physical and contemporary presence for the park that extends over 50 acres.
'Icosahedral' was commissioned by Cambourne Business Park Ltd and Wysing Arts, and managed by Commissions East with funding from Arts & Business.
